In this article Mike Cazalas explains how death follows alcohol, not Spring Break. 19year old Brandon Kohler was killed in Panama City during spring break after falling from the 15th floor balcony. Beach police announced that alcohol definently was involved. This event led to the residents of Panama City crying for the spring break to be banned. They are saying that the "Panama City Beach anything goes attitutde open the door to tragedies such as this". Cazalas says that they are selfish and naive. He gives a couple examples where teens have died at universities while being being intoxicated. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism estimates nearly 5,000 underage die each year frome wrecks, homicides, suicides, and unintended injuries. Therefore, the problem is not as much the location as it is the alcohol. Instead of cracking down down on spring break, the ones supplying the alcohol to underage should be the ones that are cracked down on.
Alcohol can be found in chapterus 4, sleep, dreams, hypnosis, and drugs. Alcohol is defined as the chemiacl resulting from the fermentation of various vegetable matter. 10 to 20 million people in the US suffer from alcoholism, which makes it the most abused deppressent. ALcohol damages the heart, liver, andd brain. Abusing alcohol is very, very dangerous. In the US in 2003 20,687 people wre killed just by the bodies ability not being able to handle it.

This is a very sad subject, however, it is reality. Spring break is supposed to be a time that students relax from their classes and intense course loads. But when you have people that do not care about the laws or people that they may be effecting, they only care about the money that they can make, you have things like this that can happen. If the alcohol would not have been supplied to the underage student, he would have been in a better state of mind, and the accident may not have happened.
